Update: Aug 19th 2025
Hello everyone!
I'm u/Motor_Ad_8798, and I wanted to share a major update to WordWarGRE, the online vocabulary game I built. I’m a fellow Reddit user, and like many of you, I found preparing for the GRE Verbal section a bit tedious. I'm a competitive person, and I thought, "What if I could practice words like I'm playing a game of chess?" That's what motivated me to create this platform where you can compete with other users and sharpen your vocabulary.
Responding to Your Feedback
This latest update was directly requested by some of my fellow Redditors, including u/Stunning_Shallot2792, u/babyfacesavageX, and u/Inner-Flan-3153. Your feedback is what makes this project so rewarding.
One of the most common requests was for better learning support, specifically for when you get an answer wrong. I've listened to your suggestions and added a key new feature: Incorrect Answer Feedback.
New Features to Boost Your Learning
Based on your requests, I've added a few key features to enhance your practice and learning:
Incorrect Answer Feedback: Now, when you get a question wrong, a new screen pops up showing you the correct answer and its definition. This feature turns every mistake into a learning opportunity, helping you remember the right word and its meaning for next time.
I want to give a special shout-out to the Reddit users whose feedback directly inspired this update. Thank you, u/Harris_69 and u/Big_Policy6931, for your suggestions. Your input is what makes this a truly collaborative project, and I'm grateful for your help in making the game better for everyone.
I've expanded the game's database with 100 additional words. This provides more variety in your matches and gives you a broader range of high-frequency GRE words to study.
60-Second Timer: To help you practice under pressure, each round now has a 60-second time limit. This forces you to think and recall words quickly, much like you'll need to do on the actual GRE.
Why I Do This
I want to be clear that I'm not doing this for profit. This is a passion project built in my free time, fueled by my own experience studying for the GRE and my desire to create a tool that I wished I had. My goal is to make studying GRE vocabulary a little less like a chore and a lot more like a game.
So, head over to WordWarGRE and check out the new feature! As always, your feedback is welcome and appreciated. Let me know what you think and what other features you'd like to see next.
P.s the mods at r/GRE took down my follow up posts because they have a problem with it. Thats why i am blogging.
